Understand what this animal was built to do. A corgi is a cattle dog. Its job is to run in underneath a cow, bite it on the ankle, and be too short for the kick that follows.
That's it. That's the whole design. Welsh farmers spent centuries breeding an animal low enough to survive its own audacity, and what they ended up with was nine inches of dog that has never once in its life met something too big to argue with.
Folklore says they were the horses of fairies, and that the pale markings across the shoulders are where the saddle sat. The markings are right there. You can look at them.
There's a version of the story where the short legs are the joke. There's another where they're the strategy. The corgi has never expressed doubt about which one it's in — it just keeps arriving at the ankles of things forty times its size and making its case.
Small dog. Enormous opinion. Zero interest in the discrepancy.
