About the design
A capybara does not flinch. It is the largest rodent alive, all haunches and webbed feet, moving through mud and river the same way it moves through everything else: unhurried.
The body looks soft — round, sleepy, built for lounging — but it can hold its breath for five minutes and vanish underwater without a ripple. Colonial missionaries supposedly classified the capybara as a fish, so it could be eaten during Lent without breaking the fast. It let them. Howling at the moon, it wears the same expression it wears for floods, jaguars, and Tuesdays. You will not out-calm this animal.
