About the garment

This sweatshirt is built on Comfort Colors 1566, a fleece of ring-spun cotton and polyester with a 100% cotton face. It's garment-dyed to match its companion t-shirt, so the two hold color together as a set. The cut is a relaxed unisex crewneck with ribbed cuffs and waistband. Each one is printed to order, one at a time.

About the design

The narwhal has never made a sound anyone would call a howl. It doesn't need to. Its tusk is not a horn but a tooth, spiraled counter-clockwise, growing straight through the upper lip until it reaches ten feet, sometimes two at once, sometimes none at all. No one agrees why.

It looks built for combat and lives by sonar instead, diving through eight hundred meters of lightless water to hunt where sight is useless. Medieval merchants sold the tusk as unicorn horn to European kings, who paid in castles. The Inuit say it grew from a woman's braided hair, pulled into the sea and never let go. You don't ask a narwhal to explain itself. It wasn't planning to.
