About the design

A narwhal has no throat built for it, no reason to try, and it howls anyway. The tusk gets all the attention: a spiraled left canine, sometimes ten feet long, growing straight out of the face like a mistake nobody corrected. It looks like a weapon. It is mostly a sensor, reading salinity and pressure through thousands of nerve endings, tuned to a sea it never has to see.

They say medieval traders passed those tusks off to European courts as unicorn horn, and no one checked twice. The narwhal never corrected the record. It doesn't need the moon's credit either — it was howling in the dark long before anyone was watching, and it will keep doing it long after you stop.
