About the design
A cat does not need the moon's permission. It was already sitting like this before the howling started. What looks like devotion is closer to an inventory: yard, fence line, the neighbor's unlocked window, all of it counted and claimed under cold light. The body gives nothing away either — soft, low-slung, apparently harmless, until it is airborne and six feet up a shelf you didn't know it could reach.
Old superstition holds that cats can see what the moon stirs loose, the restless and the half-visible, and simply choose not to mention it. They say a howling cat is not calling anything. It is reporting in. Rendered here in the same cold moonlight airbrush as the original — silver, ash, ice blue, near-black — the joke holds because the pose never once looks silly on this animal. Own the yard. Say nothing about it.
